STRETFORD SEX OFFENDER DAVID O’DARE SENTENCED IN MANCHESTER
In June 2008, a 30-year-old sex offender from Stretford, David O’Dare of Ripon Road, was sentenced to an indefinite prison term.He was found guilty at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court for two separate attacks involving sexual assault and rape.
O’Dare received a sentence of detention for public protection, with a minimum term of four and a half years before being eligible to apply for parole.
On 26 February 2006, O’Dare sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl.
Subsequently, on 4 August 2007, he raped a 20-year-old woman who was at a friend’s house in Urmston; she managed to push him away and ran upstairs to inform her friend, leading to police involvement.
In addition to his prison sentence, O’Dare was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for life.
Detective Constable Sandra Callender of the Trafford Division Public Protection Investigation Unit commented, “The two victims in this case were not linked in any way and the fact that O’Dare has targeted two people shows he is clearly a dangerous man.” She added, “As in all cases of rape and sexual assault, we will provide as much support as possible, and we work with a number of specialist agencies who can provide support packages to help people overcome this type of attack.
Support is out there and I would encourage people who find themselves having gone through similar situations to come forward and report them so that we can provide a level of care and help bring the offenders to justice.”
