MAN WHO CONFESSED TO RAPING A CHILD DURING LIE DETECTOR TEST BY POLICE IS JAILED
A paedophile who admitted to raping a child after consenting to a police lie detector test has received a prison sentence of over nine years.
David Nicholson was detained after being caught attempting to meet a child by the group Dark Justice, which operates as paedophile hunters, and was then asked to complete a polygraph assessment.
During the court proceedings at Newcastle Crown Court, it was disclosed that Nicholson confessed to the rape of an 11-year-old girl.
He was sentenced to nine years and four months in prison, along with a two-year extended licence requirement.
Furthermore, Nicholson is required to register as a sex offender and must adhere to a lifelong sexual harm prevention order.
The individual victim, now an adult, had the courage to contact police and disclosed the abuse she endured.
The 46-year-old defendant, of Gatacre Street in Blyth, pleaded guilty to charges of rape and three counts of indecent assault.
It was noted that Nicholson had previously received a community order following an incident with Dark Justice in 2018.
Upon his arrest for that offence, police found 16 indecent images of children on his mobile device.
