2004: EVESHAM DRIVING INSTRUCTOR JAILED FOR STALKING AND THREATS
A driving instructor from Evesham who engaged in stalking and threatened to kill his former girlfriend through a series of anonymous calls was yesterday sentenced to prison.David Jackson, aged 42, had previously been found guilty of harassing his ex-partner, Christine Mausley, and was legally prohibited from approaching her, as a jury at Reading Crown Court was informed earlier.
Despite this, Jackson of St Philip's Drive, Evesham, violated the restraining order on two occasions last year by sending phone messages that included threats of violence and even death.
On a separate incident on Wednesday, June 5, he followed his victim in his driving school vehicle, traveling around Berkshire, which led her to call emergency services.
The court sentenced him to two and a half years behind bars, with Judge Stanley Spence condemning his actions as disgraceful.
He noted that Jackson’s new relationship formed in September 2002 did not alter his abusive behavior, which began in May of the previous year.
The jury found Jackson guilty of three offences, all deliberate and without excuse.
Prosecutor William Hopkin highlighted Jackson’s prior convictions for harassing Ms Mausley, including damaging her patio door, forcing open her front door, and assaulting her, resulting in arm injuries.
Defense lawyer Matthew Pascall told the court that Jackson had been a driving instructor for many years, as had Ms Mausley, but his licensing would be permanently revoked upon conviction.
Jackson was convicted of two counts of breaching the restraining order and one of causing fear of violence through harassment, though he was acquitted on three additional charges of breaching the same order.
It is important to clarify that this case is entirely separate from another Evesham driving instructor named David Jackson, who operates under the alias Dave Price and is based in Windermere.
