DAVID GOULDEN'S SHOCKING SEXUAL ABUSE IN EBBW VALE: A DISTURBING INCIDENT INVOLVING A TEENAGER AND HOME-MADE WINE
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Ebbw Vale, 68-year-old David Goulden from Bryncoch was found guilty of sexually abusing a teenage girl following an evening of heavy drinking.The incident took place on the night of July 25, when Goulden and the 14-year-old girl consumed two bottles of his homemade wine, leading to a series of troubling events that culminated in legal action.
According to the prosecution, represented by Meirion Davies, Goulden, who had no prior criminal record, was with the young girl during the evening.
The court was told that after consuming the alcohol, the girl became intoxicated and distressed, eventually confiding in her parents about what had transpired.
This disclosure prompted immediate police intervention, and Goulden was swiftly arrested shortly thereafter.
Investigations revealed that Goulden's DNA was present on the girl’s bra, a key piece of evidence linking him to the incident.
During his arrest, Goulden initially denied any wrongdoing but admitted to allowing the girl to drink an excessive amount of alcohol.
His defense lawyer, Geoffrey Jones, highlighted Goulden’s health issues, describing him as a man with a long-standing history of serious health problems, possibly to mitigate the severity of the charges.
At Newport Crown Court, Judge Roderick Denyer addressed the case, stating that while the offence was serious, it was not among the most egregious of indecency crimes.
The judge acknowledged that Goulden’s behavior was thoroughly reprehensible but noted the absence of some of the more aggravating factors typically associated with such offences.
As part of his sentence, Goulden was placed under a community order that requires 12 months of supervision.
Additionally, he was mandated to register as a sex offender for a period of five years and ordered to pay costs amounting to £200.
The case has left a lasting impact on the local community, raising concerns about safety and the influence of alcohol in vulnerable situations.
