SERIAL SEX ABUSER FACES LONG JAIL TERM FOR DECADES OF OFFENCES IN PAISLEY
A serial sex abuser has been brought to justice almost 60 years after he first struck.David Corrigan, now 70 years old, admitted to abusing three girls between 1966 and 2005.
He was arrested after his final victim courageously reported him in late 2023.
Corrigan appeared in the dock at the Glasgow High Court, pleaded guilty to three charges of lewd and libidinous behaviour, and faces a lengthy prison sentence, with his sentencing to be scheduled later.
The abuse occurred in his hometown of Paisley over several decades.
The first victim was targeted at a house party during the summer of 1966.
She remembered being in a bedroom with another girl, where Corrigan exposed himself before he and other boys ran off after she screamed.
The court heard that after this incident, further sexual abusive behaviour began to escalate towards her, including inappropriate touching and unwanted sexual advances over four years.
Her own father caught Corrigan on one occasion and intervened.
This victim later confided in her husband about her abuse experience.
The second girl endured similar abuse and Corrigan also showed her pornographic magazines.
The third victim was victimized when she was lying in bed beside her sleeping mother.
Over a decade later, she encountered Corrigan again, and he suddenly groped her on the chest.
Corrigan denied any deliberate touching, claiming he had no memory of the incident but acknowledged that the victim's account was true, and admitted that what he did was wrong.
Corrigan claimed that he believed the first two victims asked him to expose himself in front of them, but he admitted to police that he had no memory of the last incident.
His defence highlighted his awareness of the consequences of his actions.
He was initially on bail but was remanded in custody by judge Lord Doherty.
His sentencing has been deferred pending further reports.
