WOMAN WAS ABUSE TARGET, COURT HEARS
A WOMAN who claims she was sexually abused from the time of her ninth birthday until she was 17 told a jury that her abuser indecently assaulted her every time they were alone together.At Bournemouth Crown Court, David Clifford Turner, 59, of Melbourne Road, Christchurch, pleaded not guilty to nine charges of indecent assault from July 1973 to May 1981.
He also denies indecent assault on another girl when she was aged 14 or 15 between June 1980 and May 1981.
The first complainant, now aged 36, said: "When there was an opportunity for him to be on his own with me it would always happen." Tim Moores, prosecuting, told the jury: "The allegations are now being made a long time after the event and the question you will be wanting to consider is why they are being made at this stage." "There is a stark contrast between the evidence of the complainant and the account of the defendant because he said to the police that these allegations are untrue and that he did not do these things to either of these girls." Mr Moores said that the defendant accepted that he once "accidentally" touched the first girl's breasts when she was 16 or 17 but that was all.
