DOG WALKER FILMED CARRYING DEAD PET IN HEAT STROKE TRAGEDY
A dog walker identified as Dave McGhee has been involved in an incident where he was filmed carrying the 'lifeless' body of Shelby, an English Bulldog, after a walk in scorching 27°C heat.The footage, captured via a Ring doorbell camera, showed McGhee carrying Shelby to her owner's house in Bellshill on Tuesday, August 12.
Shelby, who was only two years old, was suffering from heat stroke and subsequently died.
The owner, Mandy Lawrie, who is disabled, found her dog dead on her living room floor after returning home.
McGhee claimed he had taken Shelby on a short 20-minute walk in the shade and returned her feeling no ill effects.
However, a neighbour’s doorbell camera contradicted his account, showing him carrying her in his arms.
The owner’s daughter Michelle described Shelby as looking lifeless and is devastated, especially since Shelby had lost her sister just three weeks prior.
The family called police and the Scottish SPCA to review the footage; the police confirmed they responded to a report of a dead dog at the property but indicated no further police involvement.
