In a significant case stemming from the towns of Alva and Tillicoultry, Darren Whyte has been handed down a six-year prison sentence after being found guilty of possessing a substantial collection of nearly 200 indecent images depicting children.

The images included nine of the most severe Category A classification, which are considered the most disturbing and serious in nature.

Whyte, who resides in Alva, was charged with and convicted of electronically stored images that he admitted to possessing.

During his court appearance, he explained that the images came to his attention following a health crisis, which he claimed triggered repressed memories and led to his access and possession of the illicit material.

The court's ruling also mandated that Whyte register as a sex offender, a legal requirement for individuals convicted of such offenses.

Additionally, he was ordered to participate in a rehabilitation program aimed at addressing his behavior and preventing future offenses.

The case highlights ongoing concerns about the distribution and possession of child exploitation material within the local communities of Clackmannanshire, including Alva and Tillicoultry.
