“MONSTER LOCKED UP”: SEX OFFENDER JAILED FOR 13½ YEARS AFTER STRING OF SEXUAL AND DOMESTIC ABUSE OFFENCES
A man described online as a “vile beast” has reportedly been jailed for 13 and a half years after being convicted of multiple domestic abuse and sexual offences in Scotland.Steven Cochrane, also reportedly known as “Steven Irvin”, was convicted at the High Court in Edinburgh of seven offences under the Domestic Abuse (Scotland) Act 2018 and eight sexual offences under the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act 2009.
Court paperwork shared online appears to confirm that a Non-Harassment Order was granted indefinitely on 12 May 2026 at Edinburgh High Court before Lord Duthie.
The order states that Cochrane must not approach, contact, communicate with, or attempt to contact the named victim either directly or indirectly “for an indefinite period”.
Social media posts circulating following the sentencing describe the emotional impact the case allegedly had on the victim and her family, with calls for the public to raise awareness surrounding violence against women and sexual abuse.
One post claimed the offences left the victim “scarred for life” and urged others to speak out against abuse and protect women and children.
The case has sparked strong reactions online, with many expressing outrage at the nature of the offences and support for the victim.
