MIDDLESBROUGH MAN JAILED FOR POSSESSING INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN AND ILLEGAL VIDEOS
A Middlesbrough man was caught with a sick video showing a 12-year-old girl being sexually attacked after police raided his home.
Darren Tombling, 53, had also downloaded a 58-minute video of a naked nine-year-old girl onto his PC.
He watched cartoons depicting "depraved acts" involving children.
Tombling was caught when police raided his home on Linmoor Avenue, in Pallister Park, after receiving information about Tombling's online activity.
His computer was taken away for examination.
Teesside Crown Court heard he had carried out internet searches for teenage boys and girls.
Police found in 420 files on his PC: 3,192 prohibited images involving cartoon characters, eight category A photos and videos of children being raped, one category B video of a naked girl, and a category C image and video of an eight-year-old girl.
Tombling later pleaded guilty to possession of prohibited images and three counts of making indecent images of children from 2021 to 2023.
In mitigation, Shaun Dryden said that his client "has a longstanding problem" and needs intervention.
Tombling said he started viewing extreme pornography in 2020 after his father's death, progressing to indecent images of children.
Judge Mark McKone sentenced him to a 10-month prison term suspended for two years, with 200 hours of unpaid work, 35 rehabilitation days, and requirement to sign the sex offenders' register.
