MAN JAILED AFTER GROOMING TEENAGE BOY
A 57-year-old man has been sentenced to ten years in prison for grooming and sexually abusing a 14-year-old boy he met online.Darren Moore began communicating with the teen in early 2024 and made the conversation sexual in March, despite knowing his young age.
He shared explicit photographs of himself with the boy and detailed sexual acts he wished to perform during their meeting.
On March 8, 2024, Moore encouraged the boy to take a train to his Ely residence after school hours.
The boy attended Moore’s flat that evening and was subjected to sexual assault.
His mother, concerned that he hadn’t come home from school, reported him missing to the police.
The boy arrived home later and revealed what had happened, prompting police intervention.
During the hearing at Peterborough Crown Court on May 21, Moore, of Market Street, Ely, admitted to charges including inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, participating in sexual acts with a boy aged 13-15 on two occasions, grooming, and having sexual communication with a minor, and was sentenced accordingly.
