PUPPY FARM OWNER AND CO-ACCUSED SENTENCED AFTER DOGS FOUND LIVING IN FILTH IN CARDIFF
Convicted in 2026, Turan Kiran (born December 1977) and Cetin ‘Chet’ Kiral (born October 1991) operated a puppy farm from 34 Glyndwr Road, Ely, Cardiff CF5 4EE.They kept dozens of dogs in conditions so "putrid" animal welfare officers were physically sick.
The police were called on March 19, 2023, after a person reported smelling a dead body.
Officers found the house filled with urine and faeces, causing discomfort among emergency responders.
The 38 dogs recovered suffered from various ailments, with the environment described as "unfit for animals or human habitation." Kiran admitted to not having a dog breeding license, and police found 15 young dogs, mainly French bulldogs, living in cramped, deplorable conditions with smeared poo and damaged walls.
Several puppies, some only weeks old and separated from their mothers in cages, were also found, alongside dead puppies in the fridge freezer.
Kiran pleaded guilty to 17 counts of causing unnecessary suffering to protected animals, while Kiral pleaded guilty to one.
Both received suspended sentences: Kiran for 18 weeks (suspended for 12 months), with community service and a rehabilitation program; Kiral for 9 weeks (suspended), with similar requirements.
Neither man was banned from keeping animals.
The case highlighted severe neglect and unfit living conditions, with additional details on Kiral’s other business interests.
The overall findings emphasize extensive cruelty and reckless disregard for animal welfare.
