2015: JAILED: CARER WHO SEXUALLY ASSAULTED WOMAN WITH MENTAL DISORDER 'THEN MADE HER TEA AS IF NOTHING HAD HAPPENED'
A caregiver was found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman in her own residence and then acting as if nothing had occurred by preparing her tea, a court was told.Darren Gresty has been sentenced to 12 months in prison after pleading guilty to engaging in sexual activity with a person suffering from a mental disorder at Manchester Crown Court.
The 54-year-old, residing on Mason Street in Horwich, was working as her carer and would visit her to help with meals.
During the hearing, it was revealed that in May of the previous year, he assaulted the woman, who was in her 50s, at her home in Salford.
PC Lyndsey Roberts from the Greater Manchester Police adult safeguarding unit stated: “The victim lacks the capacity to consent to sexual activity and does not comprehend what it entails, meaning she was unaware of what Darren Gresty was doing or why.
He exploited her vulnerability in a deeply disturbing manner, fully aware of her mental state, which makes his actions even more reprehensible.
Shockingly, he then continued with his normal routine by making her tea, as if nothing had happened.
The only silver lining is that he has taken responsibility for his actions.”
