DARREN COPPARD FROM GALASHIELS SENTENCED FOR VIOLENT ATTACK OVER YORKSHIRE TERRIER

In a disturbing incident that unfolded in the town of Galashiels, Darren Coppard found himself embroiled in a heated altercation with his girlfriend, Barbara McAllan, which ultimately led to his imprisonment.

The confrontation was reportedly triggered by a dispute over their pet Yorkshire terrier, a small dog that had managed to escape from their shared flat.

During the ensuing struggle, Coppard directed his anger towards McAllan, blaming her for the dog's escape.

The situation escalated as the argument turned physical, resulting in McAllan sustaining an injury when she hit her head on a door frame amidst the chaos.

At Selkirk Sheriff Court, Darren Coppard was sentenced to serve 16 months behind bars for his role in the assault.

This sentence is in addition to an existing five-year jail term he is currently serving for an assault committed in Maidstone, Kent.
