MAN WHO REPEATEDLY PUNCHED PARTNER IS JAILED
A man who assaulted his partner by punching her in the face during a severe attack has been given a prison sentence.Dannie McGavigan, aged 43, struck his partner multiple times and dragged her through their home in Cambridge after she confronted him about messages from another woman in April 2023.
The woman sustained significantly swollen cheeks as a result of the assault.
Her daughter contacted the police, but McGavigan had already fled the residence before officers arrived.
McGavigan, who has no fixed address, was later detained and pleaded guilty to causing actual bodily harm.
He was sentenced to one year and eight months in prison at Huntingdon Law Courts for this crime, along with a separate sentence for stalking and harassment in a different jurisdiction.
Detective Constable Callum Fullwood stated: “McGavigan is clearly a danger to others and I’m pleased he has been brought to justice for this cowardly and violent attack.
“I hope the conclusion of the court process will help bring the victim some closure.”
