JAMES BOND PRODUCER'S STALKER GIVEN HOSPITAL ORDER
A man who stalked former James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli for a decade, forcing her to sell her family home, has been given an indefinite hospital order.Daniel Wilson, aged 37 and from Lambeth in south London, was convicted at Southwark Crown Court after previously pleading guilty to stalking that caused significant alarm or distress, along with two violations of a restraining order.
The court was informed that Wilson inundated her with messages that ranged from unusual to sexual and threatening, and he had entered her home unlawfully in 2016.
Wilson admitted to stalking between 1 April 2022 and 14 February 2025, and to two counts of breaching a restraining order originally put in place in 2017 to prohibit contact with Broccoli.
He also pleaded guilty to charges of affray and criminal damage after damaging car and hospital windows at Lambeth Hospital in December 2023 with a hammer, causing £8,837 in damages.
Experts in psychiatry were divided over whether Wilson suffers from schizoaffective disorder or bipolar disorder, but agreed that the treatment approach is similar.
His condition had been exacerbated by the use of crystal meth and cannabis.
Judge Christopher Hehir ordered an indefinite Section 37 hospital detention with a Section 41 restriction, which requires official approval for discharge.
During the sentencing, Wilson interrupted with delusional statements about a bronze sculpture, leading the judge to disconnect his video link from Wandsworth Prison.
