THUG JAILED FOR STALKING, BATTERY AND CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A 37-year-old man was sentenced to imprisonment following multiple offences committed against a woman from mid Suffolk.
Sean Murphy, who resides on Langston Hughes Close in southeast London, appeared before Ipswich Crown Court on Thursday, January 8.
He was given a total of 65 weeks in prison after admitting guilt to various charges.
Specifically, he received a 58-week sentence for stalking that involved threats or fear of violence.
In addition, Murphy was sentenced to seven weeks for battery, with this sentence to run consecutively to the stalking penalty.
He also pleaded guilty to criminal damage, which resulted in a two-week sentence to be served at the same time as the other sentences.
Initially, Murphy denied the charges but later changed his plea.
He was also ordered to stay away from the victim for five years under a restraining order and was required to pay a surcharge of £187.
After the sentencing, PC Amy Hart, the investigating officer, commented: “Murphy is a manipulative and dangerous individual who subjected his victim to ongoing intimidation and physical violence.”
