BURNLEY MAN JAILED FOR RAPE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT

A man named Daniel Webster from Burnley has been sentenced to more than seven years in prison for serious sexual offenses including rape, attempted rape, and assault by penetration.

He pleaded guilty to all charges and appeared at Preston Crown Court on Friday, March 28, for sentencing.

The court was informed that Webster had previously been convicted of assault against the same woman on February 25, 2022, but the sexual offenses committed on March 6 of that year were only reported in 2023.

The victim recounted that on March 6, Webster went to her house, grabbed her by the hair, pulled her around, and slapped her, resulting in a black eye.

During these incidents, the victim repeatedly told Webster she did not want to have sex, but he responded that if she refused, she would have to 'do something else.' When police interviewed Webster voluntarily, he answered no comment but claimed that any sexual activity was consensual.

The judge sentenced Webster to seven years and eight months in prison, ordered him to sign the sex offenders' register for life, and imposed a 10-year restraining order against him.

The judge commented that Webster's issues stem from alcohol consumption and noted his remorse, highlighted by a letter he wrote expressing regret for his actions.
