DANIEL TUNNEY FROM CREWE SENTENCED TO FIVE YEARS FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY OFFENSES

In March 2012, a man from Crewe named Daniel Tunney was sentenced to a five-year prison term after being found guilty of possessing and distributing highly disturbing and extreme indecent images of children.

The case came to light when Cheshire Police uncovered evidence that Tunney, aged 29 at the time, was involved in sharing child pornography over the internet.

Authorities initiated an investigation that led to Tunney's arrest.

During the legal proceedings, he admitted to a total of 22 charges, which included possession, creation, and distribution of indecent images, as well as possessing extreme pornography.

The severity of the images and videos he was involved with was described as 'extreme,' highlighting the disturbing nature of his offenses.

Following his conviction at Chester Crown Court, Tunney was not only sentenced to five years behind bars but was also mandated to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

Additionally, he was prohibited from working in any capacity that involves contact with children, aiming to prevent any potential risk to minors in the future.

Cheshire Police's Detective Sergeant Mark Fletcher commented on the case, stating, 'He had traded the worst levels of abuse imagery with paedophiles all over the world and actively made 14,000 child abuse images and videos available for other users.' This statement underscores the extent of Tunney's involvement in the distribution network and the serious nature of his crimes, which had a global reach and contributed to the proliferation of child abuse material online.
