MAN JAILED FOR ASSAULT AND DAMAGE IN WESTON-SUPER-MARE
A man named Daniel Jessop, residing in Mantle Close, Clevedon, was sentenced to nine months in prison after admitting to assaulting his partner and causing damage to her home.According to court reports, Jessop acknowledged having an 'on and off' relationship with the woman, describing it as sometimes argumentative and volatile.
The incident took place in November last year when Jessop arrived at her residence in Weston-super-Mare.
Following a heated argument, he physically assaulted her by punching, after which she tried to barricade herself in a room.
Jessop damaged a door and a bed during the altercation.
He pleaded guilty to several charges, including assault occasioning actual bodily harm, criminal damage, and producing cannabis.
The judge, His Honour Judge Peter Blair KC, sentenced him to nine months' imprisonment and ordered him to pay the complainant £300 in compensation.
Additionally, a three-year restraining order was imposed, preventing Jessop from contacting the woman or attending her address unless through a solicitor or third party.
The court was told that Jessop appeared under the influence of nitrous oxide during the incident, and police found 12 cannabis plants at the location when they responded.
Jessop also admitted to growing cannabis for personal use during police interviews.
The victim reported feeling 'very shaken up' and no longer feeling safe at her home, fearing Jessop might return.
Defending solicitor Lana Murphy acknowledged the volatile nature of Jessop's relationship and that he accepted he had gone too far, expressing regret over his actions.
