A man found guilty of controlling and coercive behavior has been sentenced after subjecting a woman in Herefordshire to tracking, harassment, and assault.
Dane Higgs appeared before Hereford magistrates for sentencing following his previous guilty pleas.
The court was informed that the 38-year-old had engaged in persistent controlling and coercive conduct in Ross-on-Wye from February 1 to December 12, 2021.
His actions included checking the victim's phone, accusing her of infidelity, and monitoring her whereabouts.
Additionally, Higgs assaulted her by physically beating her on December 12 in Ross-on-Wye.
He also carried out a pattern of harassment, which involved making numerous phone calls and initiating unwanted contact from December 15 to 24.
Higgs, residing in Ferndale, Lydbrook, received a two-year community order, which includes 150 hours of unpaid work.
He is also subject to a two-year restraining order that prohibits him from contacting or visiting the victim.
Furthermore, he was ordered to pay her £500 in compensation.
No costs or victim surcharge were imposed, allowing the compensation to take precedence.
