GLOUCESTER MAN JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT AFTER NIGHT OUT
A woman who was sexually assaulted while walking home has told a court her attacker ruined her faith in humanity and left her living in fear for her future.Abdulla Ali, 26, of Cecil Road, Gloucester, was jailed for two years after he performed a sex act on the woman when she collapsed after a night out in Gloucester on 28 July.
The court was told Ali was seen on CCTV approaching the woman at about 23:00 BST before he led her away from her intended route home.
Police said the woman collapsed outside the view of the CCTV camera but Ali could be seen crouching over her.
The court heard he left for a short time but returned and led her away a second time.
The woman woke up at home the next morning and was unaware of what Ali had subjected her to.
"I have no recollection of what happened to me," she said.
"But I question the morality of this man - if he saw me potentially needing help and instead took advantage of my situation and the fact that I was a female of small build, alone and intoxicated.
"I wonder if this man has a mother, a sister or a daughter, and if he does, how he would feel if they were violated?" Ali was charged with attempted rape and on 8 October he instead pleaded guilty to sexual assault.
He was sentenced to two years in custody and he will be on the sex offenders register for 10 years.
