LLANGEFNI MAN JAILED FOR CHILD CRUELTY AND DOMESTIC ABUSE
A man named Dalton Jefferies, aged 22 and from Llangefni, was convicted on charges related to severe child and domestic abuse.Court hearings revealed that Jefferies forced an eight-year-old girl to drink washing-up liquid, leading to her becoming physically unwell.
He also attempted to strangle the girl’s mother in the course of these events.
Additionally, Jefferies engaged in self-injurious conduct such as rubbing himself with sandpaper and opening a car door at high speed, then blaming the woman for causing these injuries.
His relationship with the girl’s mother lasted only four months, from July to October last year.
During this period, he was involved in violent outbursts, publicly humiliated her, and caused significant emotional distress to both victims.
He was arrested in October, and during questioning, he admitted guilt.
Jefferies pleaded guilty to controlling and coercive behavior along with child cruelty.
He received a sentence of two and a half years in prison for controlling behavior, with an additional 15 months for child cruelty to run concurrently.
A court also issued a 20-year restraining order preventing him from contacting the victims or visiting their home.
The judge emphasized the impact of his actions on the victims’ psychological well-being and stressed the importance of protective court orders.
Authorities and police welcomed the sentencing, noting their dedication to fighting domestic abuse and ensuring victims’ safety.
