MUSSELBURGH/FIFE MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO DOMESTIC ABUSE AND NECK-COMPRESSION CRIMES
A court has heard about the violent behavior of Dale McMillan against two former partners. The allegations include grabbing each of the women by the throat and restricting their breathing.
McMillan was involved in a series of abusive acts from June 1, 2020, to September 13, 2022.
He repeatedly attacked one woman by punching her and on one occasion forced her to the floor, refusing to let her up.
He also held a glass to her throat and threatened to kill her.
During a separate incident, he seized her by the throat and compressed her neck, restricting her breathing.
After being reported to the police, McMillan demanded she withdraw her statements and even offered her money not to testify.
In a second relationship, he threatened the woman, assaulted her by hitting her, and on one occasion, forced her onto a bed, sat astride her, and restricted her movements before forcibly compressing her neck.
He also took money from her bank account without permission and repeatedly breached bail conditions by demanding to meet her and coaching her on how to avoid giving evidence in court.
All of these acts endangered her life and caused injury.
McMillan pleaded guilty to two charges under the Domestic Abuse (Scotland) Act 2016 at Edinburgh Sheriff Court, and his sentencing was deferred pending a social work report.
He was remanded in custody and is scheduled for sentencing on May 15.
