CURTIS MCDONAGH SHOCKS KILMARNOCK AT HEADS OF AYR FARM PARK WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT ON TEENAGER
On April 22, a disturbing incident unfolded at Heads of Ayr Farm Park, located near the scenic coastal town of Ayr, involving a 20-year-old man named Curtis McDonagh from Kilmarnock. The event took place in the late afternoon, around 4:30 pm, when a 15-year-old girl was waiting for a taxi alongside her friends and grandmother near the entrance of the popular family attraction.According to reports presented in Ayr Sheriff Court, McDonagh was loitering in the vicinity of the farm park, appearing visibly intoxicated and staggering as he moved about. His behavior raised suspicion among witnesses, and it was during this time that he approached the young girl with inappropriate intentions. Court documents state that McDonagh placed his hand on her breast over her clothing, an act of sexual assault that shocked those nearby.
The girl attempted to protest by raising her hand in a defensive gesture. Despite this, McDonagh's actions did not cease; instead, he shifted his focus and laid down next to her grandmother, attempting to engage her in conversation. This behavior further alarmed those present, prompting farm park staff to intervene. However, McDonagh's reaction was aggressive; he became visibly angry, shouting and swearing at the staff members who tried to address his misconduct.
As the incident drew attention from passersby, the victim and her family decided to leave the scene in a taxi, seeking safety and privacy. The farm park staff, alarmed by McDonagh's conduct, contacted the police to report the assault. Law enforcement officers responded promptly, and McDonagh was taken into custody.
During the court proceedings, McDonagh appeared before Ayr Sheriff Court, where he admitted to the sexual assault. The sheriff chose to defer sentencing to allow for background reports, including a risk assessment, to be prepared. Despite the delay in sentencing, the court ordered McDonagh to be placed on the sex offenders register, underscoring the seriousness of his actions and the court's concern for public safety.
