MAN SECTIONED AFTER FLASHING ERECT PENIS AT WOMAN
A man has been sectioned after flashing his erect penis at a woman and asking: “Do you want some of this?”Curtis Cooper, who has bipolar disorder with some psychotic symptoms, exposed himself while he was off his medication.The 34-year-old was also caught growing cannabis.Michael Smith, prosecuting, told Leeds Crown Court that police were called to Cooper's home in Henley Croft, Dalton, on June 7 this year after concerns for his welfare.They forced entry and discovered a 'tent-like structure' that contained 14 cannabis plants that were likely to produce 55g of 'skunk' cannabis, as well as paraphernalia.
In an interview with police, Cooper said the plants were for his own use as he cannot afford to buy cannabis.Three weeks later, he approached a 'vulnerable' female acquaintance as she sat on her doorstep.
Mr Smith said that Cooper asked the woman if she ever got lonely, adding: "He had his hand down his trousers." She did not think that was unusual because she had seen him with his hands down his trousers before, but then he exposed his erect penis.
"She said 'you will be in trouble now' and he left in his car.
"He was close enough to her that she pushed him away - she was within touching distance".
Mr Smith added: "It does not appear there was masturbation, although his penis was erect." Cooper, who has convictions for multiple robberies and an assault, pleaded guilty to production of cannabis and exposure.
Detaining Cooper under section 37 of the Mental Health Act 1983 at the Mill Garth Hospital in Leeds, Recorder Paul Greaney QC said: "You produced your penis and testicles from your trousers." "You asked her 'do you want some of this?'" "You were arrested and said the complainant was lying.
She described the serious impact it has had on her." The judge also made a restraining order, banning him from contacting the victim.
