CRAIG WOOLLEY FROM BOSTON JAILED AFTER OFFENCES IN CHESTERFIELD AND SKEGNESS LEISURE PARKS
In a significant legal development, Craig Woolley, a known sex offender from Boston, has been sentenced to prison following a series of serious breaches of his legal restrictions and registration requirements.Woolley, aged 40 and residing on Bede Crescent in Boston, appeared before Derby Crown Court on Friday, September 1, where he received a sentence of 28 months behind bars.
His criminal activities and violations spanned over a year, with offences committed at multiple locations, including Chesterfield and Skegness.
The court heard that Woolley's actions included four separate offences, which collectively resulted in a substantial prison term.
These offences comprised breaches of a sexual harm prevention order, failure to adhere to the notification requirements of the sex offenders register, and unauthorized contact with minors.
One of the most serious breaches occurred on October 19, 2020, when Woolley had unsupervised contact with young girls, despite being explicitly prohibited from doing so under a sexual harm prevention order issued in 2014.
This violation was a clear breach of the restrictions placed upon him to protect minors from potential harm.
Further violations took place on April 25, 2021, when Woolley again breached his order by having unsupervised contact with a girl under the age of 18 at Crystal Peaks retail park in Sheffield.
This incident demonstrated a continued disregard for the legal restrictions designed to prevent him from engaging with minors.
In addition to these breaches, Woolley failed to comply with his notification obligations under the sex offenders register.
On May 2, 2021, he was residing with a child at Waterside Leisure Park in Skegness but did not notify the police within the required three-day period, violating the terms of his registration.
The final charge related to an incident on February 17, 2020, when Woolley stayed at an address in Chesterfield for more than 12 hours.
During this time, children were also present at the residence, and Woolley again failed to inform the authorities, breaching his legal obligations.
In total, Woolley's actions resulted in a combined sentence of five years and eight months.
However, because the sentences for the four offences are to be served concurrently, the actual imprisonment period is set at two years and two months.
Woolley's case underscores the ongoing challenges in monitoring and enforcing restrictions on convicted sex offenders, especially those with a history of breaching legal orders and notification requirements.
