TEESSIDE MAN SENTENCED TO FOUR YEARS FOR BRUTAL ASSAULT ON GIRLFRIEND
A violent offender named Craig Walker, 40, has been sentenced to four years in prison for a brutal assault on his ex-partner.
The court heard that Walker had been controlling and coercive during their relationship, monitoring her social media accounts and breaking her phone.
After returning from a holiday in Benidorm, he came to her home intoxicated, began drinking, and became jealous and angry.
Walker spat at her and assaulted her physically, repeatedly kicking her while she lay on the ground.
The woman struggled to breathe and thought she was going to die.
She ran to a neighbor’s house for refuge but he followed and continued to kick her at the door.
Medics found that she had fractured five ribs, bleeding around her lungs, and a punctured lung.
Walker admitted to these actions and was also found guilty of Section 20 wounding without intent.
Judge Simon Kealey KC sentenced him to four years’ imprisonment and issued a restraining order.
