TROON MAN ADMITS THREATENING TEXTS TO EX
A MAN has admitted sending threatening messages to his ex-partner.Craig Docherty, of Drumlanford Road, Troon, owned up to sending text messages which were grossly offensive or indecent, where he uttered threatening remarks and threats of violence on October 12 last year, at Brown Avenue in Troon.
The 33-year-old appeared before Sheriff Mhari Mactaggart at Ayr Sheriff Court last week.
The background is that the complainant and the accused were together for 14 months.
It seems that the relationship ended in October last year, but they were still in contact.
The complainant received calls on her mobile phone, and Docherty made threats, saying he would run her out of town and called her a "slut." A friend recorded the conversation and contacted the police.
The police visited the complainant, who explained she didn’t want police involvement.
Defence solicitor Colin Adam said this was a heated moment following the relationship breakdown, and both parties wished to reconcile.
Docherty accepted his record isn’t commendable but was ashamed and apologized.
Sheriff Mactaggart ordered a criminal justice social work report.
