CONNOR OLDHAM OF GRIMSBY SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING UNDER-AGE GIRLS AT BRADLEY PITCHES
In January 2018, a disturbing case emerged involving Connor Oldham, a 22-year-old man from Grimsby, who was found guilty of engaging in sexual activities with multiple under-age girls and subsequently sentenced to prison.The case, which was heard at Hull Crown Court, revealed a pattern of predatory behavior that spanned several years and involved at least six victims under the age of 16.
Oldham, a resident of Winchester Avenue in Grimsby, had a reputation among some local circles as someone who attracted young girls.
However, this reputation was marred by allegations that he exploited his perceived charm to prey on vulnerable minors.
During the trial, it was disclosed that Oldham had sexual encounters with six girls under the age of 16, with one of these victims becoming pregnant and later terminating the pregnancy.
The incident involving the pregnant girl reportedly took place on Bradley Pitches, a local recreational area in Grimsby, where their initial sexual encounter occurred.
The court heard that Oldham enjoyed boasting about his sexual conquests, claiming to have slept with 42 different partners.
Despite this, he denied raping one girl and insisted that he only engaged in sexual activity with her and four other girls under 16.
The jury ultimately acquitted him of the charge of rape but convicted him of sexual activity with the girl in question and four other minors.
Oldham also admitted to two additional offenses involving another under-age girl, who later became pregnant and chose to have an abortion.
Judge Jeremy Richardson QC delivered a stern sentence, stating, “This man is serially indulging in under-age sex.
He admitted in cross-examination that he lied to the police on a number of matters.” The judge emphasized the seriousness of the offenses, noting that the incident involving the pregnant girl dated back to November 2013.
The girl claimed that their first sexual encounter occurred on a field at Bradley Pitches, and that she later became pregnant, with DNA evidence confirming Oldham as the father.
The case initially began as a safeguarding concern but escalated into a criminal investigation as more victims came forward.
During the trial, Oldham maintained that he believed some of the girls were over 16, claiming that one girl had led him to believe she was of legal age.
However, the court heard testimony from a 14-year-old girl who stated, “I told him how old I was before sex,” and that she was not pressured into the act.
She recounted having sex with Oldham again when she was 15.
Another 14-year-old girl described her experience, saying, “It just happened.
He was being really nice to me and it just happened,” after which their casual relationship lasted three months before she ended it.
A different girl testified that Oldham asked her, “How old are you?” to which she replied, “Fourteen,” and he responded, “Oh, that’s all right then.” The court also heard from a 15-year-old girl who claimed she was raped.
She described how Oldham, aware of his reputation for sleeping around, asked her for nude pictures, which she did not send.
She recounted that at his house, he told her, “Let’s go to bed.
Your clothes are going to be off soon,” and that he proceeded to remove her clothing and have sex with her.
She also revealed that Oldham made threats on Facebook after she spoke to the police.
Additional testimonies included a 15-year-old girl who claimed Oldham had bragged about having sex with her, and a 14-year-old girl who said, “We just sat on his bed and that’s when it happened.
He asked me if I wanted to have sex with him and I said: ‘Yeah’.
I told him I was 14.
I felt he had genuine feelings for me.
My mother was furious with me.” Her mother confirmed her anger, stating, “I was furious.
He was begging me not to go to the police.” Oldham admitted during the trial that he was devastated upon learning that the girl he impregnated was his own.
He stated, “I found out the baby was mine.
I was hurt and upset.” Despite this, he claimed he had never met one of the girls involved but admitted to lying to police out of fear.
Prosecutors argued that his confession about the pregnancy was motivated by the overwhelming evidence, including the DNA test confirming paternity.
Throughout the proceedings, Oldham also boasted online about his sexual exploits, claiming to have slept with 42 individuals.
His actions and admissions led to a four-year prison sentence, which was handed down by Judge Richardson.
The judge condemned Oldham’s conduct as shameful and indicative of a pattern of exploiting minors for sexual gratification.
In a related case, Kyran Robinson, 21, also from Grimsby, pleaded guilty to one count of sexual activity with a girl aged 14 between May 1 and 31, 2014.
Robinson received a one-year suspended prison sentence.
Judge Richardson addressed him directly, saying, “Your conduct was shameful.
You were only 17 at the time and the girl was 14.
You knew what you were doing and it was utterly shameful.
Are you ashamed of yourself?” Robinson responded affirmatively, acknowledging his shame.
