CONNOR MCLEAN SHOCKS PERTH WITH VIOLENT OUTBURST AT TULLOCH PARK
Connor Mclean, also known by his previous surname Williamson, has once again found himself at the center of a serious incident in Perth, highlighting a troubling pattern of behavior. The 23-year-old was previously investigated in 2019 for attempting to engage in inappropriate sexual communications with a 13-year-old girl via Snapchat, a case that drew significant concern from authorities and the community alike. Most recently, Mclean was involved in a violent altercation that took place during a gathering at Tulloch Park, a popular recreational area in Perth. The incident escalated quickly, with alcohol consumption reportedly playing a role in the heightened tensions. According to reports, a woman who was part of the group began to feel unwell, prompting a confrontation that would turn aggressive.
During the altercation, Mclean, who now resides at St Catherine’s Square, was seen grabbing the woman by her jumper and pulling her to her feet. Witnesses state that he then placed his hands on her face in an apparent attempt to kiss her, despite her clear indication that she was not interested and had a boyfriend. After she rejected his advances, Mclean reportedly walked away, waving his arms and shouting loudly.
Things took a further turn when her boyfriend arrived on the scene. An argument ensued, during which Mclean pushed the woman, prompting her to push back in self-defense. The situation escalated further when Mclean punched her in the stomach. As he left the scene, he shouted threats, including, “I’m going to break your jaw.”
Police officers responded to the scene after witnesses called for assistance. They observed Mclean walking away from the group with his top off, appearing visibly agitated and under the influence of alcohol. Despite efforts to calm him down, Mclean lashed out at Police Constable Cameron Phin, striking him on the chest. The officers then detained him, and he was taken into custody.
During questioning, Mclean asked, “Is she getting charged with assault?” indicating a lack of remorse and a concerning attitude towards the incident. He was subsequently charged with assaulting the woman and assaulting a police officer at Perth Police Headquarters.
At Perth Sheriff Court, Mclean pleaded guilty to the charges. His lawyer stated that he had abstained from alcohol since the beginning of the year, suggesting some effort to change his behavior. Nevertheless, the court decided against imprisonment, opting instead for a community-based sentence. Mclean was sentenced to complete 200 hours of unpaid work over the next six months and will be under supervision by a social worker for 18 months.
Depute fiscal Bill Kermode detailed the events, emphasizing the seriousness of Mclean’s actions and the impact on the victims. The case underscores ongoing concerns about violence and misconduct in public spaces within Perth, and the community will be watching to see if Mclean’s behavior changes moving forward.
