JAMES CHRISTIE FROM PERTH INVOLVED IN THREATS AND STALKING CASES

James Christie, a worker at a slaughterhouse based in Perth, has become the subject of serious criminal proceedings following a series of alarming and threatening actions directed towards his former wife. The disturbing sequence of events includes a barrage of menacing emails and voicemails, in which Christie issued explicit threats, notably stating, “I would see you in a body bag.”

During a court hearing at Perth Sheriff Court, it was revealed that Christie made a phone call to his ex-wife in which he claimed to have paid £2,000 to an individual with the intent of having her daughter murdered, specifically to have her throat slit. This revelation added a grave dimension to the case, highlighting the severity of his threats. The court also heard that Christie later appeared at his ex-wife’s residence in Perth, and upon noticing police officers approaching, he attempted to flee the scene, demonstrating a clear intent to evade law enforcement.

Christie pleaded guilty to engaging in a course of conduct that caused his ex-wife to experience fear or alarm between July 30 and August 1 of the previous year. His admissions included threatening and abusive behavior, as well as breaching a non-harassment order by approaching her despite legal restrictions. It was also noted that in 2020, Christie had previously been issued one of the longest non-harassment orders in the area, following an incident where he assaulted his wife in front of their child. This assault led to his imprisonment for 29 months, a sentence handed down nearly ten years after the initial attack, after the victim’s report.

Currently, Christie faces the possibility of additional jail time and has been remanded in custody. The court was informed that his ex-wife received a bouquet of flowers from an anonymous sender, which she suspected was from Christie himself. She had explicitly asked him not to send her flowers and had blocked him across all social media platforms. Despite these precautions, Christie continued to send threatening messages and voicemails, including statements such as, “If you don’t answer my texts I will come and kill you.”

On August 1, despite being blocked, Christie left voicemails in which he threatened to come to her house and harm her and her daughter. He even claimed to have paid someone to slit her daughter’s throat, stating that she would witness the act. The following day, Christie was seen at his ex-wife’s flat, where he pressed her buzzer and stalked her on the street before fleeing when police arrived. During his arrest, he threatened police officers, saying, “I’ll find out where you live. I’ll slit your f***ing throats. I’ve got a blade.”

His solicitor explained that recent stress, possibly due to missing medication, may have contributed to his aggressive behavior. It was also noted that Christie had recently made progress in addressing issues related to drugs and alcohol. The court deferred sentencing until next month to allow for further background reports to be prepared, as Christie remains in custody awaiting his next court appearance.
