STEWARTON MAN ON SEX OFFENDERS REGISTER AFTER MCDONALD'S ASSAULT
A Stewarton man has been placed on the sex offenders register after kissing a woman on the head at a McDonald's restaurant.
Colin Merry, 44, was sentenced at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court earlier this week after pleading guilty to three charges.
He admitted sexually assaulting a woman by placing his arm around her, pulling her into him, and kissing her on the head at McDonald's at the Bellfield Interchange near Kilmarnock on July 1.
Additionally, he admitted acting threateningly towards a retail worker at the Travelodge at the same location and date.
The court heard he shouted, repeatedly banged on doors, refused to stop when asked, and tried to enter a room multiple times.
Sheriff Nicola Patrick stated, "This meets the threshold for custody but I am persuaded I can deal with you other than that." Merry will undertake 12 months of supervision and complete 180 hours of unpaid work.
He also admitted driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, with a breath alcohol level of 136 microgrammes per 100ml, well above the legal limit of 22 mcg/100ml, on April 25 at Crosshouse Hospital.
He was fined £840 and banned from driving for 15 months.
