CHRISTOPHER SNELL FROM EBBW VALE JAILED FOR DECADE-LONG SEXUAL OFFENCES INVOLVING FOUR VICTIMS
In a significant legal development, Christopher Snell, a resident of Tothill Street in Ebbw Vale, has been sentenced to prison following a series of serious sexual and indecent assault offences that spanned over a decade. The case was brought before Cardiff Crown Court, where Snell appeared on a Thursday to face the consequences of his actions after admitting guilt to multiple charges.According to court records, Snell, aged 42, had a troubling history of offending that extended from 2003 to 2016. The court heard that his misconduct involved at least four victims, some of whom were teenagers at the time of the assaults. The prosecution, led by Ruth Smith, presented detailed statements from each of the victims, painting a disturbing picture of the impact Snell’s actions had on their lives.
One victim described feeling as if they were “crumbling” under the weight of the trauma, describing themselves as an “emotional wreck” due to the abuse. Another victim revealed that they had developed Post Traumatic Stress Disorder as a direct result of the incidents. These testimonies underscored the profound and lasting harm caused by Snell’s misconduct.
The court also heard that Snell had attempted to take his own life prior to the plea and trial preparation hearing earlier this year, indicating the level of distress and remorse he experienced. Despite this, the judge, Tracey Lloyd-Clarke, sentenced Snell to a term of eight years in prison, citing the number of victims and the lengthy period over which the offences occurred.
As part of his sentence, Snell is required to serve at least half of his prison term before being eligible for release on licence. Additionally, he will be permanently barred from working with children and will be registered on the sex offenders register for the rest of his life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions aimed at protecting the community from further harm.
