ABERDEEN SEX OFFENDER CHRISTOPHER JAMIESON SENTENCED FOR THREATS AND SEXUAL IMAGES

A man from Aberdeen has been placed on the sex offenders register following a disturbing campaign of harassment and threats directed at a woman. The incidents, which involved intimidation, threats of violence, and the distribution of explicit images, were brought before Aberdeen Sheriff Court. Christopher Jamieson, aged 33, admitted to making these threatening communications through a series of offensive text messages during the latter part of the previous year.

Prosecutor Rebecca Clark outlined that between November and December, Jamieson sent a string of messages in which he threatened to break into the woman’s residence, restrain her, and attack her with acid. The woman, who appeared visibly distressed and frightened by these threats, pleaded with Jamieson to cease his actions, warning that she would involve the police if he continued. Despite her pleas, Jamieson responded with further threats, including a promise to publish nude photographs of her online. He claimed that such an act would be “what she deserved,” acknowledging that it would be “nasty,” but nonetheless proceeded with his threats.

In February, Jamieson sent additional messages, this time accompanied by an indecent image of himself. These actions prompted his arrest, and he subsequently pleaded guilty to charges of behaving in a threatening manner, sending a sexual image, and threatening to publish indecent photographs without the woman’s consent. His defense solicitor, Ian Hardie, described Jamieson’s behavior as an “outburst” that was “entirely inappropriate,” emphasizing that his client did not derive sexual gratification from his actions. Instead, Hardie argued that Jamieson’s intent was to humiliate and alarm the victim.

During police interviews, Jamieson maintained that he never intended to carry out the threats he made. Despite this, Sheriff Raymond McMenamin decided to defer sentencing to allow for further reports to be prepared. The sheriff also ordered Jamieson to register as a sex offender, citing the seriousness of the offenses. Given the nature of the crimes, bail was deemed inappropriate, and Jamieson, who was already in custody at HMP Grampian, was ordered to remain detained until his next court appearance scheduled for June.
