2016: YOUNG MAN JAILED FOR 'POKING 26-STONE STEPFATHER IN THE EYE DURING SCUFFLE'
A man has been sentenced to prison after stabbing his 26-stone stepfather in the eye.Christopher Hooton, aged 24, had been drinking with his victim when they fell on top of each other, leading to a physical altercation.
During the fight, Hooton, who was being overpowered by the larger man, jabbed his finger into the victim’s eye.
Fortunately, there were no serious injuries resulting from the incident, which took place on November 5 of the previous year.
The attack was regarded as reckless rather than malicious.
Hooton, formerly residing on Uganda Street in Great Lever and now living on Wigan Road in Bolton, was convicted of causing actual bodily harm at Bolton Crown Court after changing his plea to guilty during the trial.
Judge Timothy Clayson warned him: "The key issue is what you prioritize.
Returning to drinking will lead to a bleak future, but addressing your issues might lead to a happier one.
For the sake of your family, I hope you choose change." He was sentenced to seven months in jail for the assault.
Additionally, on June 15 last year, Hooton admitted to attacking a woman on June 8 in a separate incident, during which he caused about £100 worth of damage to her door and wall.
He received consecutive sentences of one month for the assault and one month for criminal damage, which are to be served simultaneously.
Moreover, since he attacked his stepfather while already under a suspended sentence, Judge Clayson imposed an extra two months' imprisonment for breaching his prior probation.
Overall, Hooton was handed a sentence of 10 months.
However, given the time he has served since his arrest, the judge indicated he is likely to be released very soon, possibly immediately.
