MAIDENHEAD MAN SENTENCED TO 13 YEARS FOR HISTORIC CHILD SEXUAL ASSAULT
A 77-year-old man has received a 13-year prison sentence after being convicted of raping a girl in Maidenhead during the 1980s.The individual, Christopher Breen of Ray Lea Close, was found guilty following a five-day trial at Reading Crown Court.
In addition to his prison term, he will serve an extended licence period of one year.
Breen was formally charged via postal notification on July 8 of the previous year.
Detective Constable Sharon Lenihan from the Child Abuse Investigation Unit in Windsor expressed her satisfaction with the conviction, stating that Breen had exploited a young girl for his own pleasure and demonstrated no remorse.
She praised the victim for her courage in giving evidence and emphasized that this case highlights the importance of reporting sexual abuse regardless of the time elapsed.
Breen will be on the sex offenders register for life.
