OFFENDER JAILED FOR RAPE IN LIVERPOOL CITY CENTRE
A man named Christopher Bahadur from Brook View, Sandon, Chelmsford, Essex has been sentenced to five years and nine months in prison at Liverpool Crown Court on June 28, 2019, following his conviction for a sexual offence.The offence involved the rape of a woman in her 20s at a residence in Liverpool City Centre in July 2017.
The investigation and legal process led to Bahadur being charged with rape of a woman over 16 years of age in November 2017.
He was subsequently found guilty on June 17, 2019.
Detective Sergeant Ainsley McAlice from Merseyside Police emphasized the importance of victim courage, stating that the victim’s bravery in reporting and cooperating with the investigation was commendable.
He also highlighted that Bahadur denied the offence throughout, forcing the victim through a trial, and expressed hope that the conviction would encourage other victims to come forward.
The officer detailed the personal impact of such crimes and reassured that support services are available for victims, urging anyone with information or who has been a victim to contact the police or use trusted support groups or anonymous reporting channels.
