PERTHSHIRE RAPIST SENTENCED TO EIGHT YEARS FOR VIOLENT ATTACKS AND SEXUAL ASSAULTS

A man named Christian Robson, aged 27, was sentenced to eight years in prison for a series of violent sexual offences, including rape and assault, committed over an eight-year period. He attacked five women at different addresses in Alva, Tullibody, Sauchie, Auchterarder, and Denny. Robson threatened women with knives, throttled victims, and committed sexual assaults, including rape, during the attacks. A judge at the High Court in Edinburgh declared that the serious nature of these crimes warranted a custodial sentence, stating "The charges are so serious that there is no alternative to a custodial sentence." Robson was also ordered to be under supervision for three additional years and will remain on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely. His early life trauma was considered as a factor in his sentencing.

During the trial, Robson denied the charges but was found guilty. The mother of one of his victims recalled threatening him after discovering his crimes, during which he confessed and apologized. The offences spanned from 2011 to 2019, with Robson brandishing weapons like a hammer and screwdriver during some assaults and pinning victims to beds, with some incidents involving choking and biting.

The court did not impose a Lifelong Restriction, citing Robson's lack of previous prison experience and potential for rehabilitation. His defender highlighted his trauma history, suggesting he could benefit from treatment in prison.
