CHARLOTTE DOUGLAS SHIELDHILL ASSAULTS IN FALKIRK: FAMILY VIOLENCE SHOCKS COMMUNITY

Charlotte Douglas, aged 26, made her appearance at Falkirk Sheriff Court to face serious allegations of violent assault against her own family members.

The incident took place at a residence on Pirleyhill Drive in Shieldhill, Falkirk, on June 12 of the previous year.

During the court proceedings, Douglas admitted to engaging in a brutal attack on her mother and brother, which involved a series of aggressive and harmful actions that left a lasting impact on her victims.

According to court records and her own admission, Douglas’s assault was particularly severe.

She reportedly struck her mother’s head against walls multiple times, subjected her to stamping on her body, and even resorted to biting her.

The violence escalated to the point where she kicked her mother’s head with force.

The attack did not stop there; Douglas then turned her aggression towards her brother, stamping on his throat and biting him as well.

The brutality of the assault shocked those present and underscored the seriousness of her actions.

During the hearing, defense solicitor Stephen Biggam provided context to Douglas’s troubled background.

He explained that she had a difficult upbringing marked by feelings of rejection from her mother, which led her to leave home at an early age.

Biggam highlighted that her struggles with alcohol abuse and poor decision-making in her choice of partners played a significant role in her violent behavior.

He further elaborated that the assault was triggered by Douglas’s emotional turmoil after witnessing her mother’s interactions with her own son.

This scene reminded her painfully of her own traumatic childhood experiences, fueling her anger and frustration.

Biggam described how Douglas, in a state of intoxication, confronted her mother in a moment of intense emotion.

She believed that her mother’s behavior towards her own child was reminiscent of her past suffering, which led to her losing control and unleashing her violence.

The court heard that her actions were driven by a complex mix of personal trauma, substance abuse, and emotional distress.

Sheriff Simon Collins QC did not hold back in condemning the assault, describing it as a “nasty, violent” act committed against family members.

He sentenced Douglas to 88 weeks in prison for her actions.

As she was led away from the courtroom, Douglas made a chilling remark, stating, “I won’t last 88 weeks,” and warning that the sheriff would have a “death on his hands,” a comment that reflected her dark outlook and the severity of her mental state at the time.
