CHARLIE PEARSON SENTENCED TO 10.5 YEARS IN PRISON FOR CHILD SEXUAL OFFENSES IN CAMBERLEY

A man identified as Charlie Pearson has been handed a significant prison sentence of ten and a half years, along with an additional year on license, after being convicted of multiple serious sexual offenses involving a child under the age of 13. The sentencing took place at Guildford Crown Court on the 25th of April, following a trial that lasted several weeks.

Pearson, aged 75 and born on August 3, 1949, is a resident of Camberley. The investigation into his alleged crimes was initiated in December 2021, after authorities received a report from a family member of the young victim, raising concerns about possible abuse. This report prompted a thorough investigation by law enforcement agencies.

During the trial, Pearson maintained his innocence, vehemently denying all allegations during police interviews and throughout the court proceedings. Despite his denials, the jury found him guilty based on compelling forensic evidence, testimonies from the victim, and an eyewitness account. The evidence painted a disturbing picture of Pearson’s actions, which included at least one incident where he sexually assaulted the child at his own residence.

The investigation, carried out by the Child Abuse Team, uncovered that Pearson had attempted to conceal his crimes through a series of lies and deception. The court was also informed that Pearson’s actions had caused significant harm to the victim, and the evidence presented was enough to secure a conviction.

In addition to the prison sentence, the judge imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a Restraining Order against Pearson, which will remain in effect until further notice. These measures are designed to prevent any future contact with potential victims and to restrict Pearson’s movements and activities.

DC Claire Phillips, the investigating officer, expressed her appreciation for the bravery of the victim and their family in coming forward. She stated, “Firstly I would like to acknowledge the bravery of the victim and their family in coming forward to us to report this despicable behaviour. Their bravery in supporting the investigation and trial has directly resulted in Charlie Pearson spending the next 10.5 years in prison, and for that I cannot commend them enough.”

She further emphasized the importance of reporting abuse, saying, “Charlie Pearson is a predator who poses a serious risk to children, and we are pleased that he will now be in prison where he won’t be able to cause harm. I would urge anyone who has been the victim of sexual abuse, no matter how long ago it happened, to come forward and report it. You will be listened to and you will be supported throughout the process.”
