CHARLES MORRISON SENTENCED IN PAISLEY FOR VIOLENT AND SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING TWO WOMEN
A man identified as Charles Morrison has been handed a significant prison sentence following his conviction for a series of violent and sexual assaults committed against two women, with incidents spanning the cities of Paisley and Edinburgh. The case was brought before the High Court in Paisley, where Morrison, aged 27, was found guilty on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, of multiple offences that accumulated over a period of four years. These offences included both violent attacks and sexual misconduct, highlighting a pattern of disturbing behavior that caused profound harm to the victims involved.Following the verdict, the court sentenced Morrison to a total of seven years behind bars on Thursday, July 11th. The severity of the sentence reflects the gravity of his actions and the impact on the victims’ lives. In addition to his prison term, Morrison was subjected to a 15-year Non-Harassment Order, which prohibits him from approaching or contacting the victims in any way. Furthermore, he has been placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions aimed at safeguarding the community and preventing further offenses.
Detective Inspector Cheryl Gebbie issued a statement emphasizing the importance of justice in this case. She remarked, “Morrison has been judged to be a danger to women and will now face the consequences of his actions. I hope his conviction and sentencing provide justice to the women involved, who have demonstrated tremendous courage in disclosing what occurred to them.” She also reaffirmed the commitment of Police Scotland to tackling all forms of violent and sexual crimes, regardless of when they took place. Inspector Gebbie encouraged other victims to come forward, assuring them that their reports would be taken seriously and thoroughly investigated. She emphasized that police work closely with partner organizations to support victims throughout the legal process, reaffirming the department’s dedication to protecting the community from such harmful behaviors.
