WAKEFIELD PAEDOPHILE CARL WOOD SENTENCED TO 22 MONTHS FOR ONLINE LURE ATTEMPT
Carl Wood, a man with a criminal history involving child abuse, has been sentenced to a term of 22 months in prison following a disturbing attempt to lure a young girl online. The incident took place in Wakefield, where Wood, aged 54, created a fake online profile with the intent of engaging a 14-year-old girl in explicit conversations.
Despite being under a sexual offences prevention order at the time, which is designed to restrict and monitor individuals with a history of sexual misconduct, Wood actively sought to obtain explicit material from the girl.
He did not stop at mere messaging; he pressed for a face-to-face meeting, demonstrating a clear breach of the restrictions imposed upon him.
The court found his actions to be a serious violation of the conditions set by the order, and as a result, he was handed the mandatory sentence of 22 months in custody.
In addition to his prison term, Wood was also registered as a sex offender for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to protect the community from further harm.
This case highlights the ongoing risks posed by individuals with a history of sexual offences and underscores the importance of strict enforcement of prevention orders to safeguard vulnerable minors in Wakefield and beyond.
