A man who subjected a woman to nearly four years of severe abuse, including lining her up and shooting at her with an air rifle, rubbing her face in dog faeces, and forcing her to cut her legs with tweezers, has been sentenced to over five years in prison.
Carl Vasey, residing in The Oaks, Newbury, also inflicted physical and psychological harm through slapping, punching, kicking, spitting, and sending her degrading emails.
The assaults involved repeatedly slapping her, pinning her against a garden shed, threatening her with an air rifle, demanding money for his cannabis use and sex toys, dragging her by her hair, spitting on her, and forcing her to injure her legs.
The last vicious act saw him punch her in the mouth, resulting in a dislodged tooth, and strike her in the eye.
She managed to text a contact to escape, leading to her hospitalization.
Vasey was apprehended roughly a week after she reported the abuse on March 17, 2020.
In court, Vasey was found guilty of controlling or coercive behavior, four counts of actual bodily harm, and one assault by beating.
The judge, Dugdale, characterized the crimes as extremely serious and utterly horrific, sentencing him to five years and four months behind bars.
