A 49-year-old man from Skyllings, Newbury, has been sentenced to 16-and-a-half years in prison after attempting to murder his partner.
During an incident in Robins Hill, Inkpen, Berkshire, in August, Martin Buckland inflicted stab wounds to her neck and back.
In December, he admitted to the charges of attempted murder and was subsequently sentenced at Reading Crown Court.
His prison sentence will be complemented by a five-year period of extended licence.
The victim sustained injuries to her hands during the assault, injuries that still require medical treatment, according to Thames Valley Police.
The Domestic Abuse Investigation Unit in Newbury conducted the investigation into the case.
Detective Constable Wayne Harvey from Newbury police station described the outcome as a 'positive result for the victim, who has endured significant suffering from this dreadful crime.' He also expressed gratitude toward the victim for her bravery during the investigation and court proceedings, calling her an 'inspiration to all officers involved.'
