MIDDLESBROUGH MAN GETS COMMUNITY ORDER AFTER VIOLENT ATTACK ON EX-GIRLFRIEND
A man named Carl Harrison, aged 25 and living on James Street in North Ormesby, was involved in a violent assault against his former partner.Court documents reveal that Harrison had previously admitted to a charge of causing actual bodily harm through assault.
The incident took place after he had been drinking whiskey in the woman's lounge around 7:30 pm.
The situation turned violent as his behavior became aggressive, leading to a physical attack.
Throughout the night, Harrison went upstairs to the woman’s bedroom twice—once at 9:10 pm to request more alcohol and again later in the early morning hours, after she refused.
During the assault, he kicked her in the stomach, bit her arm, and inflicted bites on her left arm, causing her to scream in pain.
The woman tried to push him away by grabbing his T-shirt, but he responded with a kick to the stomach and a slap.
As a result, she sustained bruises to her eye and arm and needed medical attention including antibiotics and an injection.
Harrison has a criminal history with three previous convictions totaling 11 charges.
Judge Tim Stead, during sentencing, noted Harrison's mental health challenges and alcohol influence as factors.
He sentenced Harrison to an 18-month community order, which includes 90 days of alcohol monitoring.
The court also mandated that he complete 25 days of rehabilitative activities and imposed a five-year restraining order to prevent contact with the victim.
