MAN JAILED FOR STUDENT SEX ATTACK
A man named Calum Cuthill, 20, was sentenced to five years in a young offenders institute after being convicted of sexually assaulting an 18-year-old woman at Dundee University residences.
The incident occurred in November 2007 at West Park Villas, Perth Road, where he prevented the victim from leaving, threatened her with violence, and subsequently assaulted her, leaving her injured.
Cuthill claimed the sexual acts had been consensual, but the jury unanimously found him guilty after a trial in February.
He was placed on the sex offenders register and sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh.
The judge described the attack as "terrifying and degrading," and the victim had to withdraw from her university course and return home.
The sentence was backdated to February.
