CALLUM SMITH FROM NORTHWICH JAILED FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST TEENAGE GIRL
In a case that has shocked the Northwich community, Callum Smith, a 20-year-old resident of Barnton near Northwich, has been sentenced to prison after admitting to multiple serious sexual offences involving a young girl.The offences came to light during a court hearing at Chester Crown Court, where Smith pleaded guilty to a series of disturbing crimes committed against a female victim who was just 14 years old at the time.
Smith was convicted of one count of rape involving a girl under the age of 16, along with seven counts of engaging in sexual activity with a minor under 16.
The court was informed that the victim endured not only sexual abuse but also repeated violent physical assaults at the hands of Smith.
It was revealed that Smith had threatened her with further violence should she attempt to disclose the abuse or speak out about what was happening to her.
The abuse reportedly began when the girl was only 14 years old and continued until she reached the age of 16.
During this period, she was subjected to a pattern of exploitation and violence, which has left a lasting impact on her life.
The court heard that Smith's actions were both predatory and violent, causing significant trauma to the young victim.
Following his guilty plea, Smith was sentenced to a total of seven years and two months in a young offenders' institution.
In addition to his prison term, he was ordered to sign the sex offenders register indefinitely, a measure that will require him to remain on the register for an unspecified, extended period.
