PROLIFIC DOMESTIC ABUSER THROWS A KITTEN AND THREATENS WOMAN WITH A KITCHEN KNIFE
On May 22, Bryan Alex Hosking was at a flat with his female companion, Miss Megan Tucker, and a friend, all of whom had been drinking. The incident began when Miss Tucker fell asleep with a kitten on her chest, only to wake up and see Hosking picking up the animal and throwing it across the room.
She observed him seemingly about to bite the kitten’s head, causing her to intervene and take the animal away.
Following this, Hosking grabbed Miss Tucker and bit her left cheek.
She pleaded with him to release her, and he then went into the kitchen, returning with a large knife, and threatened to kill her, stating, “I’m going to f****** kill you.” He moved toward her but did not make contact and then went into another room.
Although police were called, Miss Tucker initially covered for Hosking.
Later, on July 3, Hosking was again in the same flat with Miss Tucker, who was highly intoxicated, when an altercation arose involving a neighbor’s son.
During this dispute, Hosking, who had armed himself with two knives, held one in each hand.
When Miss Tucker tried to stop him from leaving with the weapons, he threatened to get more knives and then grabbed her by the throat.
She pushed him away and noticed she was injured while Hosking apologized.
He was arrested and interviewed but declined to comment.
The court was told that Hosking’s actions caused significant pain and instilled a fear of killing his victim.
It was also revealed that he had 18 previous convictions covering 33 offences.
His defense argued that alcohol and drug use influenced his conduct and expressed remorse and acknowledgment of his faults.
Hosking pleaded guilty to charges including common assault, threatening with an offensive weapon in a private setting, and affray.
He received a sentence of 34 months in prison, with half to serve and the remainder on license.
