RAPIST SEXUALLY ASSAULTED HEALTH WORKER - JUST FOUR WEEKS AFTER BEING FREED FROM 16-YEAR SENTENCE

Anthony White, a man who previously served 16 years in prison for sex offenses, has returned to incarceration after sexually assaulting a healthcare professional, just four weeks after his release.

During a court hearing, it was revealed that he groped a female nurse’s leg and buttocks while she waited with him for a doctor at Bridgend’s Princess of Wales Hospital, following a suicide attempt.

White reportedly expressed a desire to engage in sexual activity with her and made inappropriate remarks.

He had been released from his earlier 16-year sentence only a month prior.

On November 10 last year, paramedics responded to The Wallich hostel for homeless people in Cardiff after White consumed a mixture of alcohol and drugs.

They treated him on-site before deciding he required hospital care.

During transit, he was aggressive and swore repeatedly despite warnings.

Upon arriving at the hospital, White began making lewd comments to a healthcare worker and then sexually assaulted her by touching her leg and bottom in a hospital cubicle.

She noticed his smile during the assault and quickly intervened, telling him to stop and informing other staff.

When arrested, White denied the assault, claiming emotional distress from his son’s death six years earlier and substance use, including alcohol, amphetamine, and prescribed medications, which he said left him with no memory of the incident.

He also stated he was unsure of the victim’s appearance or attractiveness.

The victim reported feeling intimidated and concerned about future interactions.

Judge Neil Bidder QC commended her bravery and sentenced White to 10 months in prison.

The judge noted that White would have faced 15 months had the case gone to trial and a jury convicted him, but his guilty plea resulted in a reduced sentence.

Defense lawyer Huw Wallace described the overdose incident as a serious suicide attempt stemming from his feelings of abandonment after release, stating White now wishes to return to custody because he feels unable to cope outside.
